Gia Ford - 'Earth Return'
‘Earth Return’ is Gia Ford’s first new music following her breakthrough debut album, ‘Transparent Things’, which was released earlier this year to widespread critical praise.
‘Eath Return’ has a ghostly, haunting mood which, fittingly, Ford describes as being a result of a “desire to be in your most loved place when you die.”
Born out of the sessions for ‘Transparent Things’, ‘Earth Return’ follows in the footsteps of her debut album, blending dream indie-pop with introspective lyrics – all of which construct a delicate yet vibrant sound.
Ford has caught the eye of Elton John and other tastemakers with a style that has drawn comparisons with those who have come before her – the likes of Lana Del Rey and Lykke Li - in mixing elements of lo-fi, folk, and soft pop. But what stands her apart from contemporaries is her ability to craft immersive, introspective songs - often paired with themes of vulnerability, self-reflection, and personal growth - like no other.
Gia Ford is touring the UK this month, culminating in a homecoming show in her native Sheffield. Naturally, that gig has sold out – but be sure to check her out when you can.
