Few things make us happier than getting out of January and the coldest months of the year, festivals are coming & we cannot wait. This brings us to our second WTHB track of the month for 2023!
Taiwan raised, Edinburgh honed, sarya has always set out to do things a little differently. Their execution of differing genres across their catalogue has always been admired, and is no different with pulsating, brand new ambient electronica release 'Terrified'. Millions of streams already, and with every base covered from spoken word, to melancholic electronica, it’s an exciting time to be introduced to Sarya.
Speaking about the song sarya said: "I’m very excited to present a more “lost in a trance” dance type of soft house electronica, as it’s something i’ve not done before, and it’s a real pívot from my usual style. i wanted to show that even though i’m a vocalist and songwriter first, i’m still experimenting and trying out different genres all the time. this is an ode to late night dancing at parties in multicoloured darkness or in a friend’s living room, 6am watching the sun rise while walking home, when your brain is foggy from a few too many drinks and you’re finally able to let loose, to let the thumping music unlock something so deep and emotional inside of you without having to use many words. TERRIFIED is about the fear of being vulnerable and trusting that someone won’t take advantage if you let them inside your heart, even though life’s hurdles shows time and time again that good people still make hurtful choices."
Listen now, and see you next month! CloseUp HQ x
