Gently Tender - 'Sunlight In Motion'
Members of Palma Violets and The Big Moon unite once again for Gently Tender’s optimistic third single ‘Sunlight In Motion’.
Gently Tender’s newest single “Sunlight in Motion” exactly captures that moment when a beam of sunlight enters the room in the morning, waking you up softly and promising a good day ahead. The lyrics express affirmations and an unbothered attitude towards any negative things that may arise—greeting them as inevitable and granting oneself the strength to overcome whatever is thrown your way.
Vocalist Sam Fryer describes the track as “when you are suddenly caught in a moment and you feel able to reflect on your life”, which is exactly the essence of the sound of the song. The outro allows this nostalgic tune to feel as though you have just exited a dream sequence, offering the perfect perspective in which to enter the summer. The delicacy of the song is exactly what Fryer is reminding himself to be towards oneself—an important lesson for anyone as we emerge from a period of isolation and potentially spiraling thoughts about ourselves and purpose.
The track is gently tender, the lyrics preaching acceptance of what you can’t control and belief in the things you can overcome. It’s simplicity and repetitiveness demonstrate how complex our lives seemingly are until we are able to reflect back in understanding.
Assuming this perspective will be present throughout their new album Take Hold Of Your Promise! out August 26th, Gently Tender is sure to provide more positivity and hope for all those who listen.
