Matilda Mann – ‘Nice’
Matilda Mann is setting new rules for herself in ‘Nice’.
With a headline tour and several accolades under her belt, London-based Matilda Mann returns with her latest single, ‘Nice.’ Taking heed from her last single ‘Four Leaf Dream’ and her previous track ‘God Only Knows’, Matilda Mann holds an outstanding track record. With three EPs and several stellar singles to date, Mann was also nominated for the 2022 Ivor Novello ‘Rising Star Award’. The single also premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Clara Amfo’s “Hottest Record in the World”.
“I don’t want predictable, I swear I’ve done it all before,” croons the hook. Matilda Mann’s new single captures everything that arises from bad dates and distinctly female angst. Swelling guitars and drums balance the textures of her vocalisations and lyricism, creating an empowering female anthem.
Produced by Rich Cooper, the track meets her previous work but with a heavier rock influence. The accompanying music video, directed by Camila Noriega, sees Mann navigate a series of dates - leaving in the end to play ‘Nice’ with her band.
On the track, Mann shared, “‘Nice’ is my dating rule. If I go on a date and the only word I can think to describe it is “nice”, it’s not worth another date.” She continued, “You’d never describe your best friends or your family as just “nice”. There needs to be a better first word that comes straight to mind”.
