Jazzcat - 'Concave'

For lovers of math rock and industrial indie Jazzcat bring the goods with new single 'Concave' - their first release for 2025.
Torn between staying and leaving, knowing and not knowing, uncertainty and the answers you don’t want to hear. The pushed timing creates groove, that with the help of their ever-prominent rhythm section and variation on the core guitar motifs descends into something more sinister, mirroring the increasing sense of turmoil in ‘why won’t you tell me what you’re thinking?’ throughout the track. The resulting atmosphere of darkness, confusion and hopelessness pulls you further in.
The echoing, high-reverb quality of ‘Concave’ lends itself to the imagery conjured by its namesake. The way the vocals become absorbed and must fight against other instruments towards the end of the track further depicts the struggle to be heard and understood illustrated in the lyrics. The connotations of the track’s title of being bent out of shape, hollowness, a downwards trend, or of concave dispositions - wanting compromise - makes ‘Concave’ the perfect summary of the themes of the track.
