Dirty Blonde - 'Adore Me?'
Dirty Blonde turn post-breakup chaos into pure alt-rock gold with their new single Adore Me?.
Manchester’s fiercest alt-rock duo, Dirty Blonde, are back with their latest single, Adore Me?, a defiant, hook-laden anthem that proves they’re more than ready to shake up the scene. As the final teaser before their highly anticipated Looking for Trouble EP (out April 17th), this track solidifies their reputation for infectious, attitude-packed songwriting.
Written in the aftermath of simultaneous breakups for members Ailis Mackay and Hayley Tait, Adore Me? channels raw emotions into a biting, grunge-infused soundscape. The lyrics take the heartbreak narrative portrayed in Catfish & The Bottlemen’s track 7, swapping self-pity for cutting with: “I'd love you but I need another year alone” is flipped into “I know you said you needed space, but I don’t think you thought about it.” Delivered with a mix of frustration and playful defiance, this track is as cathartic as it is catchy.
Sonically, Adore Me? blends garage rock grit with pop sensibilities, driven by anthemic guitar riffs and punchy percussion. Recorded at Sheffield’s Crystal Ship, the production captures the duo’s signature energy - raw yet polished, unfiltered but undeniably addictive. Mackay’s vocals shift seamlessly between sultry restraint and full-throttle power, while Tait’s sharp backing harmonies give the track an added bite.
With their upcoming EP promising a mix of fierce rock anthems (Checkmate, Rush) and grunge-tinged sly charm (Polly, Adore Me?), Dirty Blonde are staking their claim as one of the UK’s most exciting new acts, reminding everyone that women in rock aren’t just part of the scene - they’re redefining it. If Adore Me? is anything to go by, Looking for Trouble is set to be an unmissable ride when it releases next month.
