Run Remedy - 'Like They Were'
Run Remedy unveil the brilliant new single, ‘Like They Were’.
Manchester-based artist Run Remedy is back with her second single of 2024. First up was ‘Turf War’, a fantastic track that received all the attention and love it deserved. This time around, Run Remedy has produced one of the most beautifully sincere pieces of music of the year thus far.
‘Like They Were’ kicks off with gentle, almost angelic guitar chords which brilliantly bring in the stunning voice of Robin Koob, who is the multi-talented singer/songwriter fronting Run Remedy.
Her voice takes listeners on an emotional journey. She tells a tale of a person she’s lost. It’s beautiful, telling the story of the good and bad of what was clearly a strong friendship. The singer reflects on things being “like they were” at the end of each verse, making for really emotive choruses where the full-band builds up to convey this real expression of emotion for a friendship and the times spent together.
Robin Koob has spoken on the track, saying: “Ryan was one of my oldest friends from back home in New Jersey, we used to get in trouble a lot. He’s one of the first people I trusted to come out to, which was a pretty scary thing at that time in our community, but he kept my secret for years until I was ready.”
This strong bond, trust and love is truly felt in the track. From its careful instrumentation with its beautiful acoustic sound, to the moving lyrics, the track is the perfect tribute.
The end, in particular, is extremely emotive. All other instrumentation fades, there is just one guitar and the chilling voice of the lead singer. She sings: “Call me later if you’re not asleep, I’ll keep praying that whatever is keeping you going keeps going.”
It’s beautiful, sad and full of love all in one.
Run Remedy have achieved an incredible feat with the latest single: ‘Like They Were’ is a stunning tribute to a lost friend. Whilst being a perfect tribute, it’s also a fantastic piece of music that listeners will relish. Many who will listen will relate to the track’s themes and appreciate that Run Remedy are shedding light on an all-too-real situation for many people.
