undercores - 'Locals (Girls Like Us)'

US punk pop artist Underscores has teamed up with electronic pop artist Gabby Start on her latest single ‘Locals (Girls Like Us)’. The single comes off her forthcoming album ‘Wallsocket’ due out September 22nd via Mom+Pop. Announcing the new album via a striking video that questions sociality and ends on a spooky note. This marks a new era for Underscores and we can’t wait to see what’s around the corner.

The track ‘Locals (Girls Like Us)’ was born out of the urge to have fun rather than just being sad - “everything was too sad. I wanted to have some fun.” Says Underscores. Gabby Start jumped on the track after Underscores sent him a beat that he had to get his hands on - “She just sent me an absolutely crazy beat. First I heard, I knew I had to hop on.” Says Gabby Start. What an moves like jagger collaborate this is.

You hear Underscores speak words in rhythm that begins to overlap. Entering the bouncy electronic dance trip that is full of sass and hair flicking for days. When the breakdown hits with a groovy guitar riff, the first time we hear a guitar. From this moment the electronic wave sound changes into a dirty kick drum melody. Gabby Start vocals enter the track, with a smooth electrified take. Before the track takes another turn into a boogie wonderland.

‘Locals (Girls Like Us)’ is an ever evolving track that grows to new heights through each verse, chorus and breakdown. There is something new each time as we come around the bend of the grandmaster of Underscores and Gabby Start. The slick attitude and nasty drop beats is what drives this track. It’s fun and outgoing that catches your attention on the first listen.

Underscores will be playing a sold out show in London on 13th of July. Make sure you get behind Underscores and grab her new album ‘Wallsocket’ out 22nd of September.
