Girl Ray - 'Hold Tight'

‘Warm like the sunshine’: Girl Ray gift fans the brilliant ‘Hold Tight’ ahead of the release of their third album.
The group (comprising Poppy Hankin, Iris McConnell and Sophie Moss) have given fans an exciting flavour of music to come in the form of their much-anticipated new record ‘Prestige’. The latest single is one which will have fans eager for more, with its funky feel and uber-cool accompanying video.
The upcoming album is said to be the sound of the group reclaiming the disco music genre, with celebratory focuses on the cultures which originally surrounded it. “’Prestige’ is an escape to a fantasy clubland”, say the band. This feeling is so perfectly conveyed in the latest single which precedes the record.
‘Hold Tight’ has an undeniably loose feel, and it will certainly be one to get hips moving in crowds, particularly in crowds at festivals: as the track holds a clear summery feel.
A funky bass line seems to drive the track and the band seem to work in such perfect harmony, each component being a vital cog in the slick operation that is Girl Ray. Much like the lyrics, the track is ‘warm like the sunshine’.
Accompanying the track is an equally funky video, where the band dress in cowgirl outfits, in the grey countryside. Despite the particularly dull weather, the band seem to bring about warmth, as is reflected in the track. The group dance, play their instruments and seemingly have a brilliant time in their new music video.
Girl Ray are now set to play Green Man Festival this coming summer, and the new record is due for release too, so it’s safe to say that summer will be huge for them. If the latest single is anything to go by, we are in for a treat with their next release!
