Ruti - 'So Much More'
Ruti’s new single ‘So Much More’ is a husky, soulful showcase of the self.
Ruti who first penetrated the music industry by winning The Voice in 2018, has debuted a song which demonstrates her individual musicality, and it is beautiful. The track’s intro uses Ruti’s own voice as a melodic instrument, and is utilised as a bassline during the song’s entirety. This effect, combined with Ruti’s sultry and warm vocals, proves to be a treat to kick back and vibe to.
This single cannot be pigeon-holed into one genre or another, and it speaks to Ruti’s virtuoso and wide-reaching talent. This song will appeal to fans of jazz, should & lo-fi, and is the perfect smooth track to wind down to. This is not to say that there is no power in Ruti and Jordan Rakei’s collaboration. Ruti’s raspy, airy voice builds naturally, and by the second half of the song she tells us that she’s “so much more than you could ever ask for”. She knows her self-worth, and so do we.
Ruti has released a handful of singles from the pandemic until now, and her 2023 “So Much More” release is another gem in her arsenal.
