CloseUp // Track Of The Month #004 // Cariss Auburn - 'Milestones'

Really happy to be back with our next CloseUp curated track of the month!
Wolverhampton soloist Cariss Auburn’s brand new single, ‘Milestones’, is a track we simply couldn’t resist locking in as our TOTM for March. Supported by the notable new R&B/Hip-Hop record label, started by her hometown football club, Wolves FC, the single drops around a debut London headline venture as well. Reminiscent of early BANKS or Ms Mr with its powerful, synth driven backdrop, it’s the attention to detail and intricacy that set Cariss apart in ‘Milestones’. Layered vocal samples and production of the highest degree really contribute to this feeling like the artists stand out track so far.
Support has been growing, with BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra on board as suitors, tastemakers of the highest degree that ‘Milestones’ seemingly doesn’t feel out at either of. Keep your eyes out for an EP this year, we for one, cannot wait!
Speaking about the song, Cariss said: "It's about the pressure of expectation, about how hard it is to grow up with the markers of success and happiness ingrained into society. I wrote it figuring out how it feels to learn that you’re not the person you thought you were meant to be. This is for anyone who's trying to let go of being defined by the lives that other people are living’’
