Lucy Dacus - 'Best Guess'

Lucy Dacus unveils her latest single off her fourth solo album ‘Forever Is A Feeling’, and it’s my ‘Best Guess’ that it’s a certified banger.

‘Best Guess’ is Dacus’ third single off of her highly anticipated new album set to release on the 28th March. In true Dacus fashion it’s raw, passionate and beautifully poetic - with melancholy lyrics and heartfelt harmonies to boot.

Lyrically, it seems to tell the story of two lovers who are enthusiastic yet terrified to take a chance on eachother in a new relationship, which as a testament to Dacus’ writing rings truthful and realistic. In the verse she sings: ‘I love your body/I love your mind/They will change/So will mine’ a reminder of the inevitable aging process but the joy of experiencing it alongside your lover.

The track is soft and dreamy with a grungy early 2000’s-esque undertone, and paired with Lucy’s soothing yet bewitching vocals she highlights heavy instrumentation and over-production is rendered unnecessary when trying to tell a romance story through song. If anything she proves the simple yet raw style in which she makes music is often the most realistic and passionate.

Along with the stunning new single, Dacus provided fans with a charming little music video in which she personally posted an open casting call looking for ‘hot mascs’ - with which she found great success. The video features many familiar faces, some of which includes: Towa Bird, Maoni Mcpherson, ER Fightmaster and Cara Delevingne shot in an almost advert like Calvin Klien campaign from the 90’s.

Lucy Dacus has also announced some show dates, some of which will be happening in the next month and will take place in some of the most beautiful locations around the world, including the St Ann & The Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn and the Vondelkerk in Amsterdam. As Well as shows in North America and the UK and Europe due to take place over the summer.

‘Forever Is A Feeling’ is set to release on the 28th March and will feature this glorious new single ‘Best Guess.’
