Slung - 'Neurotic'
Emerging alt-grunge quartet - Slung - burst on the scene with their exploding debut single 'Neurotic'. It is only early days for this band - but this track shows us exactly what they are capable of.
Opening ominously, the track builds to a devastating crescendo with vocalist Katie Oldham baring her soul, really tapping into the fear of not having control over your life or the things around you. The delightfully vulnerable and self-aware track is inspired by truly personal and confessional songwriting. Oldham explains her process: “There’s something quite validating about hearing someone admit to things about themselves that they’re not proud of, but not ashamed of either, and I was considering what kind of confession would be true for me.
The four members of Slung currently find themselves flung across Europe but Brighton is their spiritual home. A tight-knit crew of the formerly gifted and talented, Slung deliver blistering riffs, sinister drums and sugary sweet vocals, all wrapped up in a tasty tortellini of 90's slacker rock nostalgia. The group, featuring former members of Sit Down, The Death of Us & Intechnicolour, formed in 2023 with the ambition of finally finishing demos that had existed for years. On first rehearsal, the chemistry was instant and Slung stormed through the writing and recording of their upcoming debut album. Stay very much tuned.
