Venus Grrrls - 'Sudocream Queen'

Leeds Alt-Rock band VENUS GRRRLS stun with new single Sudocream Queen.
Taking inspiration from the Riot Grrrl era, VENUS GRRRLS are an alternative rock band from Leeds. Singer Grace Kelly,(also known as GK) fronts the band, along with Hannah Barraclough on bass, Grace Stubbings on synth and Gabby Cooke behind the drums.
In their energetic new track Sudocream Queen, the girls express their empowering statement. GK tell us: "Deriving from the act of applying cream over acne every single night, the complex and contradictory relationship with body image is touched upon within Sudocream Queen. Having endured many changes within my body over the years, and thus having to rebuild myself and my relationship with it, Sudocream Queen is the experience of doing such.
Going further GK adds:
“It additionally throws into the mix the pressure of battling others’ perceptions and opinions on your body, which on many occasions can feed into your own consciousness. With a caring fondness for our inner children and empowering rhetoric for adulthood, Sudocream Queen is our consolation."
With a heavy rock vibe, dirty distorted guitars and an energetic rhythm, you can still hear GK’s accent in her powerful vocals, giving an authentic spark. The chorus is certainly catchy, and the lyrics will surely be relatable to other “Sudocream Queens”.
2022 was a big year for the band, not only did they make Spotify's editorial playlists "All New Rock", "Fresh Finds: Rock" and "Hot New Bands", they also were heard on the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Sirius XM, and BBC Introducing, with up to 8 plays on BBC Radio 1.
Having supported artists such as Dream Wife, Black Honey, and Crawlers, they are no strangers to the stage and hope to bring their brilliant energy and Riot Grrrl Power, worldwide.
