Joy Autumn - 'The Otherside'

Producer and singer-songwriter Joy Autumn takes us on a delicate adventure on the art of letting go on her latest single - ‘The Otherside’.
With her upcoming EP ‘Rainy Sunday’ on the horizon - this most recent taste is a warm and inviting experience - a honest piece of rainy-day bedroom pop with a folksy spin to it. Kind of living in the same world as Taylor Swift’s “Folklore” or Phoebe Bridger’s “Punisher.” Inspired by the soundscape of her hometown Olympia, Washington, Joy leans into a communion with nature and her roots.
“Autumn has always been my favorite season in the Northwest, because of its beauty, the falling leaves, the changing weather, and the chance to reflect and let go. ‘The Otherside’ to me is the perfect fall song, because it explores the beauty of letting go and moving forward after heartbreak.” Joy explains.
For Autumn, letting go and moving forward has been a consistent theme in her life these past few years. After a successful run releasing her last record, “Midnight,” where Joy found herself on the 2019 first-round GRAMMY ballot, selling out shows at the iconic Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, and featured in renowned publications such as LA Weekly, she eventually packed her bags and moved home during the pandemic, leaving her the space to rediscover herself and revisit her sound.
“London, come on ta fuck, let’s fucking go” the magic words from Gurriers frontman, Dan Hoff, to kick off the chaos at the band’s largest headline show to date, a sold-out Scala, on Thursday night.
“These are the joys of getting old, you go deaf. I’ve also got the joy of going blind. Fortunately I’ve still got my voice - cause if I lose that, I’ve got the full Tommy”, wisecracked Roger Daltrey during the first of two shows The Who were headlining at The Royal Albert Hall.
