Video Premiere: Sister Lucy - 'Best at Being Sad'
London based artist Sister Lucy already had us as giant fans from her debut EP ‘Big Girl Pants’ - which was released towards the end of 2021. She is back with some special visuals for the track ‘Best at Being Sad’.
The music video was an all women team collaboration between myself, illustrator artist Sona Koloyan and animator artists Amanda Tooke and Izzie Dabs. It's a hand-drawn fully animated music video set in Sister Lucy's own personal hellscape, complete with video game and comic book inspired visuals, it does not disappoint!
“The Sister Lucy Hellscape idea started from the lyrical meaning of track Best At Being Sad - a song that 'pokes fun at my own sadness'. The Sister Lucy hellscape felt like the perfect companion, personifying the track's meaning at an extreme. It's a dream come true video that Sona, Amanda and Izzie made a reality.
Like many other pandemic collaborations - we worked together over video calls and emails. Sona Koloyan hand drew every detail of the music video, from the tufts of grass to the impaled skeletons. Amanda Tooke and Izzie Dabs placed them into a 3D world - piecing the puzzle together and weaving their own mark on the surreal landscape."
We are delighted to be able to give you an exclusive look at the video.
