Inspired #354 - Edith
Romanian born, London based pop artist Edith has just released her new single ‘The Day We Met’ - her music fuses together infectious, dance worthy melodies with emotional, honest lyrics. She took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind her music.
Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
My top three musical inspirations are LANY, Taylor Swift and Lauv. Taylor is amazing at telling a story, it's impossible not to be inspired by her songwriting. LANY and LAUV too! I just really love music I can listen to and immediately connect with.
Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
Hmmm, I wouldn't say there is a specific film that inspires me. I have never thought of it. However, one time I did watch this film called Legends of The Fall and honestly I did feel really inspired after. I'm pretty sure I wrote a song but it is unreleased. The story line is incredibly sad and unexpected, so I liked to imagine what its would be like to be the actual characters.
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
I love big cities that never sleep. I am obsessed with the idea of New York and hopefully I will move there at some point. I would say my favourite city I have visited has been Tokyo. I wrote a few songs after I went there but also have remained unreleased just yet. However, there is a song named New York on my debut album which is coming this year.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
I have never thought of one particular person as inspiration as I believe everyone is inspiring in a different way. I think I would say that I find inspiration in people who have not given up on their dreams because I know it can be extremely difficult at times to keep believing.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
I wrote The Day We Met about wishing I said something but unfortunately I didn't so it was left in the dark. It was originally a sad ballad written on the piano but I wanted people to dance to it so when I went in the studio I said let's change the pace and make this a super poppy track.
How would you like to inspire people?
I would love for people to relate to my music and connect with me through it. I think that is the most important thing with music, for me at least. I hope that people are inspired to be more vulnerable with their feelings, even if it means to put them into creating art.
