Girlpool – ‘Lie Love Lullaby’
Los Angeles natives Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad aka Girlpool, who have been working together since they were teenagers, have announced their latest album ‘Forgiveness’ with the release of the lead single ‘Lie Love Lullaby’.
Speaking on the track, Tucker says “Lie Love Lullaby is a song about a time where my innocence affected my ability to choose a person who was good for me…. I think the most painful part is I allowed myself to pick a person that didn’t recognise my entirety. I wrote this song wondering, did I recognise it myself? If I had the wherewithal to tolerate their minimising perspective?”.
It’s sharp, electronic production and Tividad’s harmonies emphasise the cold nature of the relationship and take the track one step further by adding an entirely new emotional depth to it by making it that slight bit more unsettling.
‘Lie Love Lullaby’ is a glimpse into what is to come sound-wise for the album as, with the help of producer Yves Rothman (Yves Tumor, Miya Folick) they combine Hollywood futurism with post-grunge sincerity to create a record that exceeds any expectations of what a Girlpool album should be.
The music video for ‘Lie, Love, Lullaby’, directed by Amalia Irons, is available to watch on Youtube now.
‘Forgiveness’ the album is out April 29th via ANTI.
